Step two
The restored artwork
This is the part that makes the game look like 2026 rather than 1999: colour textures rebuilt at 2K and 4K, the material channels the original never had, the rebuilt models and the converted cinematics. It is optional, it is the same download whichever platform you are on, and it is by far the biggest thing here. Leaving it out costs you the restoration, not the game.
Restored artwork
The restored colour textures at 2K and 4K, the rebuilt models and the converted cinematics. Without this the game runs on the original 1999 artwork.
DownloadMaterial channels
Normal, roughness, metalness and height maps, which is what the lighting and the ray traced modes read. Large, and safe to leave out on a small disk.
DownloadWhat the artwork pack adds
- Colour textures restored to 2K, and 4K where the surface earns it.
- Rebuilt models and modernised characters.
- The cinematics, converted to H.264 so they play at all.
What the material pack adds
- Normal and height maps, so lit surfaces have relief instead of a flat picture.
- Roughness and metalness, which is what tells stone from varnish from brass.
- The channels the ray traced lighting, shadows and reflections read.
Leaving one out
The engine treats both packs as optional and reads whichever are present. Without the material pack the picture gets plainer, not broken. Without either, you are playing on the 1999 art, which is exactly what the original shipped.
